Chapter 15
âYo Yo Yo. This is Nesha Re and Iâm in the studio with Detroitâs very own Southwest Rah!â The radio host announced, followed by a round of applause prompted by the switchboard.
âWhat up doe, Re?â Rahlo spoke into the mic.
âYou,â she flirted. âYou are whatâs up. Iâm digging this look on you.â Nesha Re checked out his outfit. The brunt orange puffy vest and wheat Timbs screamed New York, but the fitted D hat and wood-frame buffs said Detroit. âItâs giving fall in the city.â
âYou better stop looking at me like that, you know I been feeling you for a while.â
âRah, stop.â She blushed. âBut speaking of your relationship status-â
âOh, thatâs what weâre talking about?â He chuckled, causing the dimple to sink into his cheek.
âNow we are. The girls wanna know if youâre single.â
âI am,â he admitted. âThere is a shorty that caught my eye, but right now, my focus is music.â
âI dig that,â she nodded. âThen tell us whatâs your type.â
âHonestly, I like thick girls.â
âThick? Like the fake booties, big breasts, and small waist?â She twisted her lips.
âNothing against my ladies that went under the knife, but I like my women a little more juicy, if you will. I want the legs, thighs, and fupa to match all that ass.â Rahlo licked his lips. âI want the real deal.â
âSay that shit then!â Nesha Re clapped her hands. âSee, you got me cursing on air.â
âIâm just being honest. I want my woman black and homegrown.â
âWhew.â She fanned herself. âLadies, if you are listening, Rah just said heâs a part of the BBW club. Jump in his inbox and may the best woman win.â
âYou silly,â he chortled, taking a sip of water. Nesha Re melted at the way his lips wrapped around the bottle.
âSo this upcoming albumâ¦give me some tea.â She fanned herself.
âItâs almost done. Shoutout to my manager Terri and all the producers thatâs been holding me down.â
âNow look, you already established a fanbase before signing with Eastwood Entertainment. Has anything changed?â
âMy fanbase is growing.â He leaned forward and rubbed his chin. âMy day ones know Iâm bringing the heat, and everyone is just catching on.â
âPeople compare you to J. Cole, Kendrick, and sometimes Da Baby. How do you feel about that?â
âI love the big homies and respect what Iâve learned from studying their music, but Iâm in my own lane.â
âMeaning?â
âComparing myself to others only increases the pressure on my shoulders. From where Iâm standing, thereâs only one me, just like thereâs only one of them. Personally, I think thatâs why it's always so much competition amongst artists. We all bring something different to the table, thereâs no need to compete. Itâs enough for everybody.â
âThat was well said.â Nesha Re nodded her head. âI hope yall new artists are listening. This man is wise beyond his years. The late great Hussle said it best. There is no traffic in your own lane.â
âShout out to Nipsey,â Rahlo agreed.
âSo you know I have to be nosey.â She gave him a knowing look.
